Introducing Speaker #2 Stephen Enticott

Steve

Stephen is currently Head of Animation at Double Negative (London).

“Since embarking on a career in animation in 1997 (my first role was working on the BBC series Walking With Dinosaurs), I have been working continuously in the VFX industry for the past 19 years (wow, I feel old writing that). Initially spending roughly 7 and half years at Framestore in London, where I worked my way up to the role of Senior animator, I then decided to make the move to LA to work to Sony Pictures Imageworks in the summer of 2005. After spending an extremely enjoyable 4 and a half years in the sun, becoming a Lead animator along the way, the time was then right to make the move back to Blighty to begin a career at Double Negative, starting in Sept 2009 and where I have been ever since.

Over the course of my career I have worked on a variety of projects for TV, Long Format and Feature Films (including both Live action and full CG). These projects include films such as ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ ‘Monster House’ ‘Beowulf’ ‘I am Legend’ ‘Watchmen’ ‘G-Force’ ‘John Carter’ ‘The Bourne Legacy’ ‘Fast & Furious 6’ ‘Godzilla’, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Ant Man’ and ‘Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children’ to name but a few.”

Introducing Speaker #1 Ben Halliwell

Ben H

Ben is a freelance Stop-Motion Director / Producer / Animator.

“Graduating from Norwich School of Art and Design I started my stop-motion career as a runner for the well established Filmfair Animation studio in London. Whilst there I was promoted, first to assistant animator and then to animator working on the new series of “The Wombles” and “The Upstairs Downstairs Bears”.

After completing an MA in Computer Animation I returned to stop-motion working all over the UK on a string of children’s television series including “Fireman Sam”, “Postman Pat” and the “Koala Brothers”.

Returning to Wales I worked for Calon as an animator on “Hana’s Helpline” and during this time became involved with the development of the pre school series “Igam Ogam” as Director. We shot a pilot which was picked up by Channel 5, S4C and the German broadcaster ZDF. I directed all 52 episodes of “Igam Ogam” which included setting up Ireland’s first stop-motion studio for the second series.

I continued to animate on children’s television series such as “Rastamouse” and “Postman Pat – Special Delivery Service” as well as spending a year and a half animating on the Tim Burton feature film “Frankenweenie”.

I am currently line producing the feature film “Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires” having set up a bespoke 23,000sq ft stop-motion studio in South Wales.”
